By carrying out a Pass Plus course you can save £100's on your car insurance

It used to be the case that when you passed your driving test that was the end of your driver training and that you could "teach yourself" to improve your driving and cope with more difficult situations correctly.

The increasing volumes of traffic and complexity of our roads makes this is not the correct approach to take. In passing the test you have shown that you have achieved at least the minimum level of safe driving and the more you practice the better you get. But you can get better quicker and safer by participating in the Pass Plus scheme.

Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers, designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers (some of which will offer discounts once you have completed the course) and the driving instruction industry.

Pass plus will give you chance to gain experience in different driving conditions, some of which may not have been covered in your previous training. You will gain this experience with the instructor who taught you to drive, or with any of our instructors. There is no test at the end of the training but your instructor will be constantly monitoring your progress and you must achieve a minimum standard to obtain your Pass Plus certificate.

Pass plus is made up of six practical modules which include:

• driving in town
• driving in all weathers
• driving on rural roads
• driving at night
• driving on dual carriageways
• driving on motorways

Pass plus is a voluntary scheme but ask yourself,

"The first time I drive on a motorway with large lorries and fast flowing traffic do I want to be on my own, or with an expert?"
